Tomas J. Ballesteros III

License #DN0013657

Dr. Tom Ballesteros has been a Clermont resident since 1995. He decided to move to this corner of Central Florida, looking for a smaller community where he could apply his knowledge and skills acquired during a distinguished career in the U. S. Air Force.

Dr. Ballesteros’ formal education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, his dental degree (Doctor of Dental Medicine) and a two-year, hospital based Residency in General Dentistry.

During his undergraduate education, Dr. Ballesteros was able to assist in biological research, explore the complexities of a subtropical ecosystem, assisting his professor in classroom and fieldwork in ecology. He also found time to play vibraphone in a band.

As part of his dental education, he took extra courses in non-traditional procedures, such as clinical hypnosis in addition to the normal curriculum of a dental school.

After graduation from dental school, Dr. Ballesteros entered Active Duty in the U.S. Air Force. During this time, he did his residency, where he pursued the clinical aspects of comprehensive dentistry, and did original research in biomaterials, publishing articles in dental journals. He has lectured to military and civilian audiences in Europe as well as the U.S.

Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he moved to Clermont, immediately becoming very active in the community. He is the Treasurer for the District Board of Trustees for the South Lake Hospital, and serves on the Board of the Friends of Lake Louisa State Park. Dr. Ballesteros has taught Dental Materials at the Central Florida Community College, and is a member of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Ballesteros is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, member and past President of the Lake County Dental Society, member of the American Dental Association, the International/American Association for Dental Research, the Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas de Puerto Rico, the Pan American Dental Society and associate member of the Greater Orlando Dental Society.

In order to maintain his knowledge and skills at the forefront of his profession to better serve his patients, he attends continuing education courses all year, surpassing by far the requirements of the state of Florida.
